River of doubt

The River of Doubt
On a losing streak in 1913, Theodor Roosevelt tired and humiliated decided that it was time to get away and go on a vacation. Clearly he had no idea where to go but an idea came to his mind, he was going to go visit his son Kermit Roosevelt in Brazil. When he got there he decided to go on a tour of the whole region a so that’s when his adventure begins.
They kept traveling then they wanted to meet the minister of Brazil, the minister tells Teddy about the river of doubt also known as Rio da Duvida. Because Teddy was looking for something to get his mind off of the losing streak he accepts and is off to go find the river.
Roosevelt than takes fifty-five men with him deep into the Amazon forest. Little that he knew that it was going to be a scary experience. Three months later, Teddy Roosevelt faced many difficulties such as Indian attacks, infectious diseases, starvation, and deadly rapids. One of the men in the group to find the river gave the Indian presents, showing that they were friends, but the Indians killed that mans dog.
During the time in the Amazon forest Teddy Roosevelt begins to catch a disease that’s called malaria. And he had a fever up to 105 degrees, with it being so high he had a high risk of dying, but then the worse came. They had to face impossible rapids to cross so if they tried, it would be sudden death. So they get out of the canoes and the commander that was with Teddy Roosevelt said that every man for themselves in a time like that and it was difficult because they lost so much.
